Greasy Cove - Tennessee Paint Rock Agate

Greasy Cove was the dig site that was hot when I first became interested in Tennessee Agate and joined the Middle Tennessee Gem & Mineral Society. It was a beautiful location, hard to reach, but with tons of the most beautiful yellow agate with red fortification in the center. You can still reach the site, but it requires a 3.5 miles hike and I'm guessing it could be hard to find agate. Most everyone agree Greasy has been dug out. I will be adding many photo's over the next month.

This is the color and fortification found in most of the Greasy Cove Tennessee agate. It is about the size of a softball. Notice the calcite center which you find in a lot of Greasy Cove Tennessee agate. Some of it is a golden calcite which will polish and look nice.
